Take these Holi precautions 24 hrs before playing, just before playing and after playing

PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE PRE AND POST HOLI: As the festival of colours is here, you cannot escape the water balloons from the ones who know you and unfortunately,
also from the ones whom you don’t know. Though there is no doubt that it’s too much fun to play with colours, but along with the fun come the side effects of holi colours. These side effects can range from skin problems to loss of vision. But what to do to minimise the side effects of these colours? Don’t worry, here we bring to you some steps that you can take pre- and post-Holi which will keep you safe and minimise the effect of colours on your skin and hair.

WHAT ARE COLOURS MADE OF? These Holi colours are nothing but industrial chemicals. Green is copper sulfate and malachite green, silver is aluminium bromide, black is lead oxide, blue is Prussian blue, zinc salts, indigo, cobalt nitrate and red is mercury sulfate. Additives like glass particles and mica dust are also added to these colours to give them a shine. Liquid colours available in the market are even more harmful.

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN 24 HOURS BEFORE HOLI TO REDUCE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF COLOURS
- Try and use only herbal colours or best would be if you can make colours at home (link of the old organic gulal story).
- You can make colours from genda flowers, beetroot juice and tesu flowers.
- Tomato juice and turmeric can also be used to make yellow and red colour.
- You can also use flour and rice to make colours.
- Avoid getting permanent colours on your face and say a strict no to whoever comes with grease and such permanent colours.
